Combating Dust Allergies - Tips to Help With Dust Allergies

!±8± Combating Dust Allergies - Tips to Help With Dust Allergies

The easiest way to treat your allergies is to just avoid whatever it is you are allergic to. This is a common sense method, but it can be hard to do when pollen season rolls around or when you are allergic to dust. Dust is everywhere and is very hard to avoid when you are cleaning or when you are just living your regular life. Dust mites are lurking all over your home, your car, your work, and pretty much everywhere you ever go. The key for allergy sufferers is to know how to get rid of dust. Here are some tips to help you.

1. Start by protecting your mattress. This is a great place to find dust mites and it is proven that an unmade bed is less attractive to dust mites than a made bed. There are special allergy covers for your mattress that you can purchase and use to keep dust mites from setting up camp in your nice and warm bed. You can even get covers for your pillows to help out with your dust problem.

2. Eliminate the carpet. Sure carpet looks nice and is not as expensive as hardwood floors, but hardwood and tile are less likely to attract dust mites. They camp out in carpet and the vacuum does very little to help you get rid of them. However, if you cannot just get rid of your carpet they you need to do a hot water carpet cleaning once a month and vacuum with a hepa filter vacuum as well.

3. Use air purifiers to filter your air. There are filters that are built to make your air cleaner and can eliminate 99.9% of all the toxins in your air including dust. This is great because when you start to breath better air you will be happier and will live a much more allergy free life.

4. Wash your sheets and blankets once a week. These are very attractive places for dust mites and by washing them weekly you will be able to eliminate many of the dust mites that are building towns on your blankets and sheets. You should wash these in hot water so that they get thoroughly clean and if you really want to eliminate dust, then get a comforter that is made from a synthetic material.

5. Eliminate all the nick knacks. Sure they look nice, but have you ever tried to dust them. These are the things that dust clings to and when you have an allergy to dust this can be something that can cause you to have horrible troubles with that allergy. Eliminate all the little nick knacks and you will have less dust around your home.

Learn to Quilt - Discover Top Tools of the Quilter's Trade

!±8± Learn to Quilt - Discover Top Tools of the Quilter's Trade

When I first started quilting I was just learning how to sew as well. It took a while to figure out which were the tools, also called notions, that I used the most. To help you on your journey to becoming a quilter I have created a list of the tools you will use the most:

Rotary Cutting Supplies. This includes a rotary cutter, acrylic rulers, and a cutting mat. These tools are made for precise cutting. Quilters worldwide wouldn't think of starting a quilting project without them. You'll find that the more accurately you cut your quilt pieces, the more accurately your quilt top is sewn together. Olfa is an excellent brand, and is the leader in the quilting community. A Decent Steam Iron. You can't start a quilting project without one. Now, you can buy the really expensive Rowenta professional iron, or, you can go to Walmart or Target and buy their steam iron. Both will get the job done. I've learned from experience that they both last about the same amount of time, will both do a decent job, but one is a lot less expensive to replace. I highly recommend using spring water in your irons-tap water can lead to hard water stains on your quilt top, and most manufactures say that you shouldn't use distilled water. A Good Seam Ripper. Most quilters have two or three of them on hand at any given time. Dritz makes a variety of excellent seam rippers. You'll find they have everything from seam rippers with magnifying glasses to ergonomic seam rippers for those of us quilters who rip out stitches on a regular basis. Spring Loaded Scissors and Shears. These scissors and shears are spring loaded to prevent hand fatigue while cutting repetitively. Quilting, and sewing for that matter, involves a lot of cutting. I have a pair of blunt tipped, which work really well for cutting threads, and a pair of sharp tip, which I like to use for cutting appliqué pieces. I don't know many quilters who don't own a pair of these. Fiskers, in this instance, is my brand of choice. 1/4 Inch Foot. A quarter inch foot for your sewing machine will get you going toward an accurate 1/4 inch seam allowance. Almost all quilt patterns instruct you to use an accurate quarter inch. Many sewing machines come with these feet. However, if you bought a simple hobby machine, you'll most likely need to purchase one. I would like to recommend a brand, but in this case, there are so many brands for different types of machines that you'll want to check with your local machine dealership to buy the right one. Don't worry, they aren't expensive, but they're definitely necessary. You may even find them at your local quilt shop.

You'll discover quilting can be an adventure. Anyone with the proper directions can create an heirloom quilt that will stand the test of time.

Natural Car Grooming - Cleaning Expert's Tip

!±8± Natural Car Grooming - Cleaning Expert's Tip

One of the most popular gifts for the guys seems to be car grooming products. The only snag with these is that they're not that natural, with the exception of chamois leather cleaning cloths. With the amount of time that modern people spend inside their cars, especially if you have a decent work commute, it makes sense to limit the amount of toxins you are exposed to in your vehicle as well as in your home.

But you can make your own car grooming natural cleaning products. You can make them for yourself or you can make a batch or three to give as gifts for the car-happy blokes (and women) in your circle of friends and relations.

Several of these recipes call for soap gel. Making soap gel is easy. Simply save soap scraps, or else grate or chop up a bar of soap. Put the scraps into a bucket or non-reactive saucepan and pour boiling water over the soap. The soap will melt and form a slippery gel once it cools. The consistency of the gel will depend on the proportion of soap and water you use, but the ideal consistency is one that's slightly less runny than shampoo but runnier than honey (the best description of the best consistency for soap gel is to think of the sort of mucus produced by a heavy cold in the nose - revolting but true).

Basic car wash:

Mix 4 litres water with ½ cup soap gel (preferably from castile soap) in a bucket. Add about 10 drops of essential oil of your choice (one of the citrus family is ideal, but lavender also smells good). Use this to wash your car all over the exterior, using a soft brush. Finish by rinsing off with a hose or bucket before the soap dries. If making this up to give as a gift, just mix the soap gel and the essential oil, and add instructions on how to use it.

To make a heavy-duty car wash suitable for 4x4s, double the amount of soap gel used. This method is as effective as a professional cleaning.

Tyre wash:

Mix 2 cups baking soda with ½ cup soap gel and 1 cup of water. Use this to wash down the tyres. Rinse it off with a mixture of vinegar and water.

Car polish:

Melt 12 tablespoons of beeswax in 2 cups linseed oil, plus about 10 drops of essential oil of your choice, in a double boiler. While it's still liquid, pour it into an airtight container and seal. Leave it a few days to harden. Apply directly to the car with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar. Buff to a high shine with a dry cloth.

Interior scent:

Blend about 1 cup of vinegar or vodka in 1 pint of water. Add about 12 drops of essential oil or a blend of essential oils (citrus or lemongrass help promote alertness, while lavender is soothing - may eliminate a bit of road rage!). Put these into a spray bottle and shake together. Put it away in a dark cupboard to mellow a little, then spray inside of the car when you want to freshen it up. This mixture can also double as a cleaning product for chrome or windows - a real bonus.

Different Kinds of Boilers

!±8± Different Kinds of Boilers

Boilers are of many kind that can be used both for residential and commercial purposes. For residential there are hot water boilers that generates hot water in homes. And for commercial purposes there are steam boilers which can generate steam which can be used for many commercial purposes. Most of the old residential apartments have these steam boilers, these steam boilers still works good but in case of any problem its bit costly to replace.

A water boiler furnace, regardless of whether it heats the water or makes steam, is offered in either electric or organic gas models. If you have some kind of renewable energy grid, no matter if solar or wind, or even some other source, then an electric boiler is an excellent choice, since you don't have to genuinely alter quite a lot to install it. If you might be still on an electric power grid, then it would be a good excellent to alter over to organic gas, or propane if it's readily available in your area.

You will discover many benefits of using organic gas instead of an electric boiler. One of them is that an electric boiler takes longer to heat up, and much more energy to maintain it's warmth. With a all-natural fuel boiler, the heating element is direct heat, which heats up quicker, stays hot longer, and is much much more fuel efficient. Even if pure gasoline isn't offered in your area, propane commonly is. Quite a few organizations offer incentives for new consumers, like hooking up natural-gas lines, offering free propane tanks with their service, and propane businesses can even dig a hole and bury the tank so it won't be an eyesore on your property.

These are the different kinds of steam boilers that are available in the market. To know more about these boilers in detail one can search online.

Rowenta Professional Ironing Board - Top 3 Features!

!±8± Rowenta Professional Ironing Board - Top 3 Features!

The Rowenta Professional Ironing Board was designed to be used by the pro's. By pro's I mean, someone who irons a lot, maybe even everyday. Due to the advanced design and technology incorporated into this board, it really is stable and durable enough to be used in a commercial environment.

Rowenta is one of the world's largest manufacturers of steam irons, it only stands to reason that they would add ironing boards to their product line. But not just your standard iron board, the Rowenta Professional Ironing Board has 3 major features that you should know about.

Feature #1 - Reinforced Stability!

With the Professional Ironing Board, Rowenta has taken the stability of the iron board a step further. They have reinforced the leg structure with a third supporting leg. This will give you the added stability to iron those large items that are so awkward and be able to support the heavier items we sometimes have to iron.

The leg structure is designed in the shape of a T. The feet are wider than the standard iron board and are arched for even more stability. The ends of the feet are capped with non-slip grips so don't have to worry about it moving around.

Feature #2 - Ironing Surface Size!

Having a larger ironing surface is great for any ironing project. The ironing surface of the Rowenta Professional Ironing Board measures 18" x 49", which is considerably larger than a standard board. This comes in handy when ironing large items as well as your everyday ironing.

Another size feature is the height adjustment. You can adjust up to 39" which really helps keep your back straight instead of having to bend forward to iron. If you are a tall person, this is perfect for you.

Feature #3 - Iron Rest and Laundry Rack!

You probably never considered an iron rest when shopping for an ironing board. I have to admit, it is one of my favorite features. Safety is the number one reason I like it. I don't have to worry about the iron getting knocked off the board like I did when it was standing upright. The iron actually lays on the iron rest at a slight angle which is also great for the wrist. It eliminates the constant up and down motion
of the wrist, which can cause your wrist to ache.

By using the iron rest, you have also freed up the largest part of ironing surface at the end of your iron board. This gives you much more ironing surface.

The Rowenta Professional Ironing Board also comes with a laundry rack which is located under the board attached to the leg structure.
