The easiest way to treat your allergies is to just avoid whatever it is you are allergic to. This is a common sense method, but it can be hard to do when pollen season rolls around or when you are allergic to dust. Dust is everywhere and is very hard to avoid when you are cleaning or when you are just living your regular life. Dust mites are lurking all over your home, your car, your work, and pretty much everywhere you ever go. The key for allergy sufferers is to know how to get rid of dust. Here are some tips to help you.
1. Start by protecting your mattress. This is a great place to find dust mites and it is proven that an unmade bed is less attractive to dust mites than a made bed. There are special allergy covers for your mattress that you can purchase and use to keep dust mites from setting up camp in your nice and warm bed. You can even get covers for your pillows to help out with your dust problem.
2. Eliminate the carpet. Sure carpet looks nice and is not as expensive as hardwood floors, but hardwood and tile are less likely to attract dust mites. They camp out in carpet and the vacuum does very little to help you get rid of them. However, if you cannot just get rid of your carpet they you need to do a hot water carpet cleaning once a month and vacuum with a hepa filter vacuum as well.
3. Use air purifiers to filter your air. There are filters that are built to make your air cleaner and can eliminate 99.9% of all the toxins in your air including dust. This is great because when you start to breath better air you will be happier and will live a much more allergy free life.
4. Wash your sheets and blankets once a week. These are very attractive places for dust mites and by washing them weekly you will be able to eliminate many of the dust mites that are building towns on your blankets and sheets. You should wash these in hot water so that they get thoroughly clean and if you really want to eliminate dust, then get a comforter that is made from a synthetic material.
5. Eliminate all the nick knacks. Sure they look nice, but have you ever tried to dust them. These are the things that dust clings to and when you have an allergy to dust this can be something that can cause you to have horrible troubles with that allergy. Eliminate all the little nick knacks and you will have less dust around your home.
